Water is essential to human life and has always been an endless source of inspiration. Through a wide range of artistic techniques, the exhibition “Waterworld” explores the dimensions, aesthetics, and fascination of water.

Seventeen artists highlight water’s beauty and fragility in its various forms and states.

Julia Ochs presents a photographic series that reflects the breathtaking beauty and profound vulnerability of the ocean. For over a decade, she has dedicated her work to exploring the ocean as a habitat, a place of longing, and a threatened ecosystem. Her imagery moves between minimalist aesthetics and documentary depth, between meditative calm and subtle urgency.

With her distinctive visual language, Ochs captures the many faces of the sea — delicate ice patterns, fleeting underwater moments, and shifting shades of blue. Her works not only celebrate the ocean’s quiet power but also highlight its increasing fragility. Some of her most recent photographs from the Arctic are also on view, revealing the dramatic changes occurring in these remote, icy worlds.

Since 2023, she has been showcasing her photography in the OCEAN GALLERY, a space she founded to merge art and activism. There, she creates an atmosphere that inspires reflection and responsibility, inviting visitors to connect emotionally with the ocean and engage in its protection.
